Release the quackens!

I have had several trackables go missing over the years. Some made only one or two movements before getting lost. Others made dozens of miles before vanishing forever.

I left them for several years to make sure they were truly gone, but as I still had the original codes, I wanted to revive them for a new purpose.

After wiping the old logs, I have now linked them to 5 rubber ducks and am preparing them for a new adventure. Soon I plan to release them all to race around the world. Each will get a special interest, but all will be racing to see how far they can possibly go before the end of the year.

Meet Jonathan, Christofer, Grace, Sofia, and Lily.

Each will have a tag with their trackable ID and a link to their trackable page.

I can't wait to see where they end up. Hopefully they last longer than the previous TBs that I released.

So cute! I used to send my trackables out and several have been list. Now I make proxies to send out and keep the original. I have a bunch I got from MOGA 2022 that I still need to activate and get ready for launch.
The original ones had the original dog tags attached, but those all went missing years ago. I still had all the "copy" tags in my possession, but to avoid losing them too, these only have the paper with them.

The papers are lazer printed (won't bleed if they get wet) and laminated. Hopefully that helps them survive long enough to travel.

Worst-case scenario, I replace the ducks again. They were cheap, dollar store ducks, so it isn't a huge loss if one goes missing.
First 3 ducks were released this week (Jonathan, Christofer, and Grace). The next 2 should be dropped later this week as they start their journey around the world. I am trying to drop them in different areas in hopes that they will start on race in their own unique way. I don't want to drop them all next to the airport and have them immediately fly halfway around the world.

The last 2 will probably be dropped in TB hotels near the airport since they are getting the later start. I will continue to post updates as the continue their journey.
Quick update on the ducks. All 5 were released by the beginning of March. Most have moved around a little but Sofia (Duck #4) is currently in the lead as she made a run to Austria.

Although one has not been logged as moved, the cache has been visited several times. I suspect it has been picked up, but not logged yet. Since the race has only started, it is still anyone's game. Once the year runs out, I will update the goal to send them on a different race for the next year.

Out of all the ducks, Lily got one of the best pictures on her log. It is from an area known as a "witches well". This is a place that water will rise out of the ground during the spring thaw. The water table rises so high that wells will flow out of the opening.

This is an amazing thing to witness and if you come visit Estonia in the spring, this is a definite destination to visit.

I will be posting another update in a few weeks once the ducks continue to move around. I am looking forward to their future stops along their journey.
